UNI and Iowa State both claim two titles at wrestling championships

TULSA, Oklahoma (KWWL) - The Iowa State Cyclones and Northern Iowa Panthers both took home two individual titles during the final round of the 2020 Big 12 Wrestling Championships.

The Cyclones got off on the wrong foot with Alex Mackall losing to Oklahoma State's Nicholas Piccininni in the 125-pound division.

ISU got back on track, though; with redshirt junior Ian Parker besting Oklahoma's Dom Demas at 141 pounds. Redshirt freshman David Carr collected another title for ISU with a win over Wyatt Sheets from Oklahoma State.

The Cyclones' night ended with a loss in the heavyweight division, though; with Brian Andrews from Wyoming beating State's Gannon Gremmel.

For the UNI Panthers, Bryce Steiert defeated Anthony Mantanona from Oklahoma with a pin to claim an individual title in the 174-pound division. And they would go two for two as UNI's Taylor Lujan defeated Zach Carlson from South Dakota State for the title at 184 pounds.

Oklahoma State took home the overall trophy for the eighth straight year.
