High pressure dominates the middle of the country providing us with clear skies and a southwesterly wind. This wind direction will keep things warming for today.
Warming Up: The winds will continue to crank up today with potential gusts around 30 mph. We also continue to see abundant sunshine and blue skies as high pressure remains in control. Both of these will allow our temperatures to jump into the mid and upper 30's today (40's along and south of I-80). The winds, however, may cut into our warmth a little by dropping wind chills into the 20's and teens.
The Weekend: Things will stay mild for tonight with lows in the teens and 20's as the winds lighten up just a touch. With mostly sunny skies expected for Saturday (just a few clouds north) and a southwest wind persisting at 5 to 15 mph, highs should return to the upper 30's north and 40's elsewhere. This will be a wonderful day. Sunday will see more clouds than sunshine although temperatures remain very warm – in the 40's and 50's.
Cooler with mixed precip chances: An approaching system will lead to a wintry mix as early as Sunday night. Temperatures will cool a bit for Monday as breezes kick in from the north. We will drop to the mid and upper 30's. Rain and snow chances continue for Tuesday as we fall to the mid 30's. Finally, the system brings small snow chances for Wednesday as more breezes drop our highs to the 20's.
