AMES (KWWL) -- Iowa State grabbed wins in four of the final five bouts as heavyweight Gannon Gremmel secured the Cyclones 18-16 win, their first over UNI in the past four years.

The Panthers' day got off to a promising start as Jay Schwarm flipped the script on ISU's Alex Mackall at 125 pounds. In their last meeting, Mackall defeated the Panther senior by tech fall. On Sunday, however, Schwarm built on an early takedown and pinned Mackall in the first period.

Things began to turn in Iowa State's favor at 165 pounds when Sam Colbray rallied past fifth ranked Bryce Steiert with a takedown in the final 40 seconds for a 7-6 win tying the meet at 12 apiece.

UNI still held a 16-15 edge going to the heavyweight bout, but Gannon Gremmel took down Carter Isley in the second period and rode it out the rest of the way for a 4-0 win that clinched the Cyclones' victory.
