WAVERLY (KWWL) -- The streak was nothing short of incredible, but it came down on Friday night. No. 3 Loras shocked top ranked Wartburg 19-17 to snap a 220-match conference dual winning streak that dated back to 1994.
The win also gave Loras the American Rivers Conference championship which ended a run of 27 straight titles for the Knights.
After dropping the first two matches, Loras turned the tide at 141 pounds as 6th ranked Clint Lembeck erased a 2-1 third period deficit, twice getting back points on No. 4 Brady Fritz in a 5-4 decision.
Brandon Murray later provided a huge boost at 157 pouonds with a third period pin over Shea Hartzler to give the Duhawks their first lead in the team score. Then at 197 pounds, top ranked Guy Patron Jr. brought it home with a 14-0 major decision over third ranked Kobe Woods to shut the door on the Knights' streak.
