DES MOINES, Iowa (CNN) - Former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack now adds "lottery winner" to his list of achievements.
The Democrat has claimed the $150,000 prize in the state Powerball lottery.
Vilsack said he bought the ticket ahead of the Jan. 22 drawing, but forgot to check the ticket for over a week.
He also says his wife didn't believe him and he had to work to convince her that he'd actually won.
In addition to Iowa state governor, Vilsack also served as agriculture secretary during the Obama administration.
