DES MOINES, Iowa (KWWL) -- State investigators discovered what they suspect are several improvised explosive devices, IEDs, in a fatal truck crash that occurred east of Knoxville, Iowa on January 12th.
According to a news release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety, the crash killed Del Sorey, Arnolds Park, once it caught fire. He was the only person inside the truck. His identity was determined following an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner and evidence processed by the Division of Criminal Investigation Criminalistics Laboratory.
Authorities executed several search warrants related to the IED's three days after the crash at homes in Milford and Arnolds Park. No further description of the suspected explosives was given.
The State Fire Marshal Division was called in to assist. The investigation is ongoing.
