IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- The top ranked Iowa Hawkeyes won eight of ten matches en route to a dominant 26-6 win over No. 7 Nebraska on Saturday night.
For the Hawks, the third period made the difference as they put the Huskers away in the second half of the meet.
Second ranked Alex Marinelli got that trend started at 165 where he secured a takedown in the final two minutes to top No. 5 Isaiah White 4-3.
No. 3 Michael Kemmerer followed suit with a takedown in the last 15 seconds that separated him from sixth ranked Mike Labriola in a 3-1 win.
The biggest match came at 184 pounds where Iowa true freshman Abe Assad battled inside of Carver Hawkeye Arena for the first time. Assad brought the crowd to their feet with a third period takedown that secured a 6-4 upset win over No. 5 Taylor Venz.
