(KTIV) -- Authorities have released the names of the two Hinton High School students killed in a crash early Tuesday morning.
According to the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office, 18-year-old Ella Holtzen and 14-year-old Harrison Holtzen, both of Sioux City, were killed in a car crash on County Road K22.
Authorities say the students, a brother and sister, were on their way to school Tuesday when they were involved in a two-vehicle accident on County Road K22 near the intersection of Granite Avenue in southwest Plymouth County, Iowa.
The sheriff's office says Ella Holtzen was driving a 2010 Honda Civic northbound on K22 with Harrison Holtzen as a passenger.
Authorities say when the Honda entered a curve in the road it began to slide. The Honda then slid into the path of a southbound pickup and was struck on the passenger side.
The driver of the pickup, 66-year-old William Samuelson of Sioux City, was not hurt.
Authorities say road conditions at the time were 100% ice.
The Iowa State Patrol and Plymouth County Sheriff's Office are investigating the crash.
