American Airlines’ new announcement could affect future travel plans

(NBC)--American Airlines is extending its grounding of the Boeing 737 Max airplane. The airline announced it's removing the aircraft from its schedule for another two months. This new announcement will cancel nearly 20,000 flights until early June.

The grounding of 24 max jets has cost the airlines nearly 540 million dollars. Boeing is still working on changes to the aircraft. Federal safety regulators say, ther's no timetable for letting the jet fly again.

Anyone with a canceled flight who chooses not re-book can request a full refund online.
