UPDATE: Second suspect arrested in Dubuque shooting

UPDATE: A second man is now facing charges following a New Year's Day shooting in Dubuque.

Dubuque Police have arrested Katwan Brown and charged him with aiding and abetting attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

After reviewing traffic camera footage, investigators determined Brown handed Derrick Timmmons a handgun just prior to the shooting.

UPDATE: A man is facing charges after a shooting in Dubuque

Dubuque Police tell us Derrick Timmons is accused of the attempted murder of Darrin Heard. He is also facing possession of a firearm by a felon and intimidation with a dangerous weapon charges.

Officers say they responded to a report of shots fired along Walnut Street and saw a person running from the area. Shell casings were also found in that same area as well as a handgun.

While officers were investigating, Heard went to the hospital for a gunshot wound in the stomach.

After receiving a warrant for a home along Walnut St., Timmons was arrested.


DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) -- One person is injured after a shooting in Dubuque.

Police tell us a shooting happened along the 1100 block of Walnut St. One person has non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is still active.
