CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KWWL) - One lucky Iowa teacher is taking home the $500 'Cedar Valley Tools for Schools' award.

Kaitlyn Bolger teaches English and History at Peet Junior High in Cedar Falls.

She's using the award money to buy Playaway Audiobooks, which help students with reading comprehension and fluency.

The kids can listen to the books and follow along with the text.

"For those students who are not able to access grade level text, this gives them a way to not look different and to be able to read the same different books as their peers," Bolger explained.

Bolger hopes the Playaways encourage students to try and read popular books that may be challenging.

The 'Cedar Valley Tools for Schools' program is a partnership between KWWL and Green State Credit Union.
