FRANKLIN COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) -- School administration at the Hampton-Dumont Community School District says there was a recent Tuberculosis (TB) exposure.
The affected person was a student at the high school building. The district says they are working on identifying those that had any close contact with the student with TB. When the list of students is verified, the district will be reaching out to guardians for students to be tested.
The school district says they are working with the Franklin County Public Health and the Iowa Department of Public Health Department to set up a clinic to perform testing.
TB testing and treatment is free through the Iowa Department of Public Health.
There is no required cleaning for TB. TB is air-borne which means it is transmitted by coughing, talking, sneezing. To be infected you would need to be in direct contact with the student.
