AMES (KWWL) -- The Iowa State Cyclones got a bit of a surprise on Saturday as the Camping World Bowl came calling. The Cyclones will match up with a high profile opponent in Notre Dame on December 28 in Orlando.

The bid marks the third straight for Iowa State under fourth year head coach Matt Campbell. Iowa State finished the regular season at 7-5 and in a third place tie in the Big 12 Conference.

The meeting will be the first ever between the two programs. Notre Dame enters the game as the 14th ranked team in the country at 10-2.
