IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Twenty-eight years after their last visit to San Diego, the Iowa Hawkeyes will return to the Holiday Bowl. Iowa will face the University of Southern California in the December 27 game. This marks the seventh straight bowl season for the Iowa program.
The Hawkeyes are coming off a 9-3 regular season and a third place finish in the Big Ten's west division. They'll enter the bowl game riding a three-game winning streak.
The match-up between Iowa and U.S.C. is the first between the two programs in just under 17 years. The Trojans defeated the Hawkeyes 38-17 in the Orange Bowl on January 2, 2003.
