Marshalltown hospital to move by 2022

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (KWWL) – The hospital in Marshalltown in moving in the coming years. UnityPoint Health—Marshalltown will move out of downtown to southern part of the community.

In a release, all the hospital services will be consolidated to the Medical Park by Spring 2022. The current Medical Park, which is the current South Campus, will be expanded and the downtown hospital will close.

The $38.4 million expansion project is scheduled to begin in spring of 2020. The South Campus will be expanded by 65,000 square feet, bringing the total space to 137,000 square feet.

UnityPoint Health stated they do not plan to close any more services in the “foreseeable future.”

The current downtown hospital received some damage during the 2018 tornado and closed for a period of time after.
