MARION, Iowa (KWWL) -- A new holiday tradition is setting up shop in the former Maid-Rite building.
The northeast corner of 10th Street and 7th Avenue will be transformed into Santa's Workshop.
The workshop is open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. December 13, 14, 20 and 21.
Community members are invited to visit Santa and enjoy some cookies and cocoa.
"We know how special this building is to the community, " said Joe Hill, one of the building's new owners. "Our hope is that Santa's Workshop captures the excitement and allows others to see our vision for what the building will become."
Event organizers will also collect new, twin-sized sheet sets, mattress pads, comforters and pillows to support the Marion chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
The organization builds, assembles and delivers quality bunk beds to children and area families in need.
