IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) – “I just accepted the fact that he wasn’t going to make it, you know,” said Carol Johnson after she found out a second attempt failed to get brother to his family’s Thanksgiving.
James Snider, a legally blind man from Iowa City, was left by a charter bus Tuesday. The bus company offered to get him another bus, but that was trip was cancelled due to weather.
When Johnson shared the struggle to get her brother to Thanksgiving, her boss stepped in by buying a plane ticket for Snider.
“I actually started shaking I was so … it was unbelievable,” said Johnson,
Her boss, Jeremiah Scott, said he knew he need to do something after hearing their story.
“Then you also hear the other stories where they actually miss the whole celebration, and then people try to do things for them after the fact to make up for the memory. So for me, I just wanted to make sure that Carol could enjoy her brother on this Thanksgiving,” said Scott.
He said its not the money that matters but the memories.
