Iowa State’s Kolar named Mackey finalist

AMES (KWWL) — Iowa State tight end Charlie Kolar has been named one of eight national finalists for the 2019 Mackey Award. The award is given annually to college football’s top tight end.

Kolar is currently having the best season by a tight end in Iowa State history. He currently leads the Big 12 in receptions (41), has set an ISU single season tight end yardage record (549), and with seven touchdown receptions he sits just one shy of the school’s mark in that category. Kolar’s seven touchdown grabs ranks fourth nationally.

The winner of the 2019 Mackey Award will be announced on November 25,
