It was a cold morning

It was a cold morning and a couple of locations dropping down below zero. A little early for these kind of lows but the conditions were right…new snow, little wind and a clear sky. Here is a list of COOP sites that reported low temperatures of 5° or colder.

There was another location in northwest Iowa reporting a low below zero. There might have been a few other locations than what the map below shows. This map shows the data as of 6 AM. The low temperatures are typically shortly after sunrise. Sunrise this morning was a little before 7 AM.

The map below shows the official morning low temperatures for eastern Iowa for Thursday morning.
