City Councilman Rob Green wins Cedar Falls mayoral race

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KWWL) – City Councilman Rob Green has been elected as the Cedar Falls mayor, beating former mayor Jim Brown and former UNI professor Jim Skaine.

Green took 55 percent of the vote with 4,525 votes, while Brown took 41 percent and Skaine took four percent.

One of the main topics in this mayoral race was the city’s public safety officer program. Green is a proponent of reviewing the PSO program, which utilizes officers trained in both firefighting and police work. He wants to see the city council debate its future.

Brown is one of the top supporters of the PSO program, while Skaine wanted to see the police and fire departments as separate units.
