Waterloo West moves to regional final after win over Johnston

WATERLOO (KWWL) — Waterloo West needed the minimum on Tuesday night as the Wahawks took out Johnston 3-0 to move to a class 5A regional final. West won by set scores of 25-21, 27-25, and 25-12.

West nearly dropped the second set, but rallied from deficits of 10-2 and 24-20, and held off five Johnston set points before finishing it off. Avery Kroll led the effort with 22 kills.

Waterloo West (27-13) travels to face West Des Moines Valley (39-4) in Monday’s regional final. The third ranked Tigers are riding a 13-match winning streak.
