Former Iowa football All-American dies at 77

DUBUQUE, Iowa. (KWWL) – Former Iowa football All-American Mike Reilly has died at the age of 77.

Reilly was born in Dubuque, where he graduated from Dubuque Senior High School.

He then went on to play football for the University of Iowa. There he earned All-Big Ten Team, All-American Team, co-captain for the College All-Star team and voted on by fans to the All-Time University of Iowa Football Team.

After leaving Iowa, Reilly was drafted in the fourth-round of the NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, where he played five seasons before joining the Minnesota Vikings.

Reilly later returned to the University of Iowa where he was a longtime broadcaster.

He was inducted into the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.
