UPDATE: Cattle Congress Fair rounds out fair weekend despite fire

WATERLOO, Iowa – The Waterloo Fire Department confirms there was a fire at the Cattle Congress fairgrounds around 12:46 a.m. This weekend is the 109th National Cattle Congress Fair.

Firefighters say a food vendor’s truck caught on fire. No one was injured, and the damage was mainly contained to the food truck.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

UPDATE: The Cattle Congress Fair is still going on as scheduled. They say the fire was contained to the food truck, and they removed the truck from the property.

UPDATE: The vendor will be welcomed back to the National Cattle Congress. Co-Manager Karen Coffin says they’ll be welcome back after they make repairs.

“I talked him for a while and I said you know what? Get it built back up, get it inspected and I’ll put you back right where you were, he was delighted,” says Coffin.

Despite the fire Coffin says they were still able to provide a quality fair they strive for.
