WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) – The main entrance of the Waterloo Public Library is closed as the library replaces the steps leading to the building.
This project is expected to take up to three months to complete as crew remove the current steps and replace them with a narrower staircase. The new stairs will be heated to melt snow and ice.
The library is remaining open throughout the construction, but patrons will enter through the employee entrance in the library’s courtyard. Two book drops have been placed near the courtyard for after-hours returns.
“The Library Board and staff are working diligently to make access to the building as convenient as possible through the duration of the project. At the project’s completion, we look forward to a safer, more aesthetically-pleasing library entrance,” said Nick Rossman, Interim Library Director.
As a courtesy, the library is not charging overdue fines for materials due between September 9 and December 31 due to construction. However this does not apply for lost or damaged items.
