CEDAR FALLS, Iowa(KWWL)–At UNI media day…Seven freshmen showed their faces for the first time—for what head coach Bobbi Petersen is calling the youngest she has ever coached.
Despite the youth..playing powerful Texas was a choice.. it is the only chance Bobbi Petersen gets to see her daughter Sydney in person.
Sydney and her twin sister Baylee—starred for four years at Dike-New Hartford… Leading the the Wolverines to three state titles.
Baylee joined her mother at uni… But Sydney was persuaded to become a Longhorn…. where she is the libero
Bobbi says this is a great opportunity for uni volleyball… And for herself of course!.
“Personally selfishly on the mom side I get a chance to see Sydney play too so granted I am going to be going after her that match but that is one of the reason I give a ton of credit to Jared and the coaching taf for doing this you know that is one of the reasns he was willing to do it because he knows I don’t get to see her play very much so its justt a great opportunity for our program one that our kids are excited for its a great opportunity for me as a mom as well. I have taken a lot of flack from a lot of family–I just tell her I know all of her weaknesses so.”
UNI and Texas will play a home and home series with the Longhorns visiting Cedar Falls next year
