11 year-old saves baby sister in Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (KWWL) – A young girl is being praised for saving her baby sister when the infant stopped breathing.

A video was posted to the Unity Point Health – Waterloo Facebook page that shared the story of 11-year-old Lyla Morgan.

The video tells how Lyla saved her baby sister by blowing “a puff of air in her mouth” when she stopped breathing. The girl then proceeded to call 911.

When paramedics arrived on the scene and found the baby to be somewhat unresponsive. First responders treated the baby and she was soon breathing on her own.

“I’m super proud of her,” said Lyla’s mother, Amanda Paigly. “I’m just really proud. I’m just really blessed with having such a great child.”

Paramedics also praised Lyla for her efforts, saying the actions were “impressive” for her age.
