Names released in fatal Highway 30 wrong-way crash

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) — Police have now released the names of the two drivers who were killed in a wrong-way crash on Highway 30 on Sunday, August 4th. 

31-year-old Jonathan Ray Allen McDaniel of Houston, Texas was driving a white 2019 Ford F250 on the night of the crash. According to police, a preliminary investigation found he was reported driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 30.

Moments after the report, a crash was reported on Highway 30.

24-year-old Grant Patrick Bevin of Belle Plaine, Iowa was driving a red 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and was headed westbound on Highway 30 at the time of the crash.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, it’s unknown what on-ramp McDaniel entered. However, it happened just after the Edgewood Road exit, meaning the nearest ramp is 80th Street SW or the Highway 100 interchange.
