Mayor praises Imagine Dubuque during State of the City

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) – It’s a plan that has been years in the making. And now, Dubuque will be able to bring their “Imagine Dubuque” plan to life.

“Imagine Dubuque” is the city’s ten-year plan. Staff have spent the past several years gathering ideas from the community to understand their needs.

City of Dubuque Mayor, Roy Boul, highlighted its details during his State of the City address.

“Our goal in the implementation process is to highlight and support all efforts to connect community, to do more, together,” said Boul.

Projects included within the plan include small tasks, like creating more city gardens, to larger issues, like infrastructure. The goal is to create a more genuine connection between the city and its residents.

“Implementation of the plan requires an engaged community,” said Boul. “One that pulls together, combines resources, and shares in the vision of making Dubuque more viable, equitable and livable.”

Now, the city is asking for volunteers to help get some of these projects moving. Travis Schorobiolgen, Planning Technician for the City of Dubuque, said that they need the help from the community to fully fulfill this plan.

“Ideally, the public needs to lead this,” said Schorobiolgen. “The city is not capable of all of the different initiatives and all of the programs and all of the projects.”
