Driver facing felony charge after hitting patrolman during interstate chase

JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) – The driver of a Ford Taurus is injured following a chase on I-380 in Johnson County.

Iowa State Patrol say the chase began on I-380 Southbound, and then continued on to I-80. They say that’s where the driver of the Ford Taurus, Kelston Bogguess, intentionally swerved to hit the patrolman in pursuit.

An incident report from Iowa State Patrol shows that authorities attempted to initiate a pit maneuver, and that the Taurus hit the patrolman before spinning out.

Bogguess was taken into custody before being taken to the University of Iowa Hospital to be treated for his injuries.


UPDATE: Bogguess is now facing three charges after an interstate chase ended when he hit an Iowa State Patrolman.

30-year-old Kelston Bogguess is currently being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $21,000 bond.

Bogguess is facing three charges including disorderly conduct for fighting or violent behavior, a simple misdemeanor. He’s also facing a felony charge of eluding and a 1st offense of operating under the influence, a serious misdemeanor.
