WATERLOO, Iowa – Ending the stigma and thinking one community…
A Cedar Falls business was inspired to open up another location, this time in Waterloo.
They say it’s all part of an initiative to think of the Cedar Valley as one community that works together.
Here’s What’s Poppin says they’ve been at their store on Main Street in Cedar Falls for six years. But recently, they opened another location on 4th Street in Waterloo.
The store owners deciding to think “one community” when it comes to the two towns.
Owner Jenny saying, “There’s so much diversity in both communities. They’re also so different but also the same, don’t get stuck in one community.”
She adds, “Waterloo come over to Cedar Falls, and Cedar Falls come over to Waterloo.”
Waterloo Main Street says this is part of revitalization efforts in downtown Waterloo.
“Last year we saw over 30 businesses open,” they say. And soon, downtown Lincoln Park will be getting some upgrades, which will include benches, lighting, water fountains, etc.”
Hoping to end the stigma…
“There’s a stigma out there, that there’s not much we can do, but people need to come check us out and give downtown Waterloo a chance,” Main Street Waterloo says.
Upgrades in Lincoln Park will start on August 12th.
