Fur Fun Rescue in Lisbon could win a grant of up to $20k with public’s help

LISBON, Iowa (KWWL) – Fur Fun Rescue is asking for the public to help them receive anywhere from $5000 to $20,000.  The Healthy Paws Rescue Race 2019 is awarding such prizes to the dog rescue whose story is the most compelling.  Fur Fun Rescue’s dog in the race is Baloo.  Here’s Baloo’s story:

Baloo, a silver lab, was found along with his five canine siblings in a home with a deceased owner. The owner had been deceased between 2-4 weeks. With lack of proper nutrition and care, three of Baloo’s canine siblings perished. Baloo was emaciated and taken to a shelter where it was discovered he had been living with a broken hip — for approx. 1.5 years.

Thanks to eastern Iowa’s own Fur Fun Rescue, Baloo has since received surgery to correct his broken hip and is now up to walking 2 miles a day.

Baloo is the only Iowa dog in the race.  Voting goes until Thursday, July 25.  Vote for Baloo here:
