EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. (KWWL) – A conflict turned physical between the Mayor of East Dubuque and another person.
The altercation happened last Thursday outside of The Other Side Bar during the town’s weekly car show. The conflict involved some pushing and shoving, however, no punches were thrown.
Since then, Mayor Kirk VanOstrand and the other person have publicly reconciled during a City Council meeting. The other person involved in the scuffle has taken responsibility for starting it.
However, this is not the first controversy to happen within Mayor VanOstrand’s term. Two months ago, the Mayor and City Council had to pause their first meeting of the term over a disagreement as to who should fill an empty council seat.
We still do not know what caused the confrontation. We are hoping to hear from Mayor VanOstrand within the next few days.
