JESUP (KWWL) — The third ranked Jesup J-Hawks fell in a big hole and couldn’t dig out as they fell to no. 5 East Marshall 14-1 with a bid to the 2A softball state tournament on the line.
East Marshall’s red hot bats already struck in the first inning as Madison Farrington blasted her 12th home run of the year, a three run shot for a quick 3-0 lead. The Mustangs really blew things open as they put up seven runs in the third inning for an 11-0 advantage. Farrington later cranked home run number 13 with a runner on to put the game away in the fifth inning.
Jesup’s lone run came on an RBI double off the bat of Kristin Sadler in the bottom of the fourth inning.
East Marshall will make their first appearance in the state tournament since the 2014 season.
