It’s been a long and agonizing seven years for for the families of murder victims Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins. The cousins disappeared on Friday, July 13, 2012, while out on a bike ride.
Their bikes were found near Meyers Lake in Evansdale. Hunters discovered the girls’ bodies 5-months later at Seven Bridges Park in Bremer County.
Despite thousands of leads substantial reward money, investigators have been unable to solve the case.
In an effort to keep the girls’ memories and the case alive, the 7th annual Memorial Ride & Drive for the Girls https://www.facebook.com/events/1281428185355433/ is coming up on Saturday, July 13, starting at Lofty’s in Evansdale.
Registration begins at 8 Saturday morning and the ride will begin at 11, following a short program, which will feature other families who have missing children or have experienced the loss of a loved one to violence.
Proceeds from the annual ride go to two organizations locally; the Angels Memorial Park in Evansdale and Cedar Valley Crimestoppers. https://www.facebook.com/events/1281428185355433/
Heather and Drew Collins took time to talk about the ride and the seven year case on The Steele Report Sunday. See the program in the above video.
