CLOSER LOOK: Mudslide causes train derailment in Wisconsin

GRANT COUNTY, Wisconsin (KWWL) – The BNSF railroad company has reported a train derailment just south of Glen Haven involving around nine cars.

Grant County Emergency Management says there is no threat to public safety. Currently, the US Fish and Wildlife and WI DNR are estimating the environmental impact to be minimal. Please avoid the area.

The Glen Haven boat landing is at the moment closed/inaccessible. The cause of this derailment was due to an apparent rock/mudslide. The rail cars that derailed were carrying empty containers. This is expected to take three to four days to cleanup.
