CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) – 92 veterans from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam Era will take off on Eastern Iowa Honor Flight #36.
Veterans will begin arriving at Eastern Iowa Airport at 5:45 a.m. They will depart at 7:15 a.m.
When veterans and their guardians arrive in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, they will visit the WWII, Korean and Vietnam memorials, and the Arlington National Cemetery.
If you’d like to welcome the veterans home, they will return to Cedar Rapids at 8:45 p.m. Organizers said many of them never received a special ‘thank you for your service.’
Parking is free. You can park in either the short term or long term lots, however, organizers encourage you to come early because the lots fill up quickly. When you get to the terminal, pick up your free parking pass. Once you leave the airport, give both that ticket and the one you got when you pulled into the lot, to the person at the exit.
