A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect for areas mainly south of Highway 20 until 3 AM Friday. Large hail, damaging wind and heavy rain will be part of storms.
The threat for severe weather ends around midnight but the showers and storms do not. Scattered showers and storms continue tonight and through Friday. Temperatures will be much cooler since we are most likely to be north of the front. Highs will be in the 60s for most locations. A few 50s are possible across northern Iowa.
Showers and storms are still possible Saturday and Sunday as the low slowly moves across Iowa. As the front lifts north, across eastern Iowa, the threat for severe weather returns Saturday.
