Lamont man sentenced to serve 10 years after pleading guilty to Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) – Authorities in Buchanan County say 38-year-old Gregory German will serve 10 years in prison for pleading guilty for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor following a guilty plea in February.

The sentence was handed down in the Iowa District Court of Buchanan County on Tuesday. A release on the sentence says the investigation into German first arose from a tip received by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in January of 2015. The tip regarded possible online enticement over social media, in which German was accused of asking an underage victim for 15 pornographic images of herself.

Authorities say German was aware of the girl’s age, and still asked for and was sent the sexually-explicit images through Facebook. During August of 2015, a search warrant executed on German’s house in Lamont resulted in German telling authorities that, according to the release, he had solicited 10 to 15 girls under the age of 16 for sexually-explicit pictures through Facebook. German allegedly stated that eight or nine victims had responded by sending nude photos to him, while he said he received one or two videos. He then claimed that he also sent pictures of his genitals to several of the victims, according to Buchanan County authorities.

German was first charged in November 2017. On top of Tuesday’s sentencing, German will also remain under supervision as if on parole for the rest of his life while he’ll also be required to register on the sex offender registry.
