Gustafson ready to lead Iowa in Sweet 16 against NC State

Each time Megan Gustafson steps on the court — could be her last wearing the black and gold —

of course — these Hawkeyes plan on riding this run to the end of the line — but no matter when it ends – Gustafson’s already cemented an amazing legacy —

Megan Gustafson is a double-double machine – one of the most popular players to wear the black and gold – and she’s even more popular with her team –

“Playing with Megan is a once in a lifetime opportunity, a once in a lifetime experience.”

Gustafson didn’t become Iowa’s all-time leading scorer by chance – she’s put in the work to make it happen –

Lisa Bluder/Iowa Head Coach

“She’s been one of the hardest workers we’ve ever had. She gets her confidence through a lot of hard work and it’s there.”

And there’s no better example – than a tweet sent out by NCAA of Gustafson doing a drill made famous by NBA legend George Mikan – showing the precision and focus of the Big Ten player of the year –

Tania Davis/Iowa Senior Guard

“For me, when I saw that video, I was shocked. It inspired me. It made me want to do Mikan drills that night.”

And it made others want to do it to – a recent twitter post showed a young athlete emulating her favorite player – and Iowa’s All-American took notice –

“It’s honestly made me somewhat emotional seeing some of that stuff. Soming from where I was to where I am now. It’s amazing to think of.”

Now it’s just hours away for this team — a 10:30 AM tip time with their first elite eight appearance in more than a quarter century hanging in the balance —
