NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa – Someone stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment and furniture from an eastern Iowa hair salon that was getting ready to open a new location.
Someone in North Liberty drove off with an entire trailer, and it was filled with essentials for HABA Salon.
HABA Salon currently has a location in Iowa City. Right now, they’re getting ready to open another salon in North Liberty. They had a trailer filled with furniture and equipment for the new salon.
Sometime between 10 p.m. Monday night and 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, someone stole the trailer.
Manager and Stylist Katelyn Sexton says, “All of our furnishings were stolen. We had the trailer outside in front of our new space.”
She says the trailer was filled with at least $20,000 worth of essentials. Now, the opening day for the new salon may be delayed.
Sexton says, “We’re not going to be able to open next week. There’s no way.”
Stylist Paul Clark says, “We’re working really hard to build something beautiful. And we’re trying to do something good here.”
The salon is asking people in the community to keep watch, especially those in North Liberty.
Sexton says, “A vehicle with a giant trailer attached to it, it’s something you can’t miss.”
The salon says they are thankful to everyone who has reached out to support them, and to the thief or thieves who did this….
“Hope those people have bad karma… Maybe they’ll have lice forever or bad hair days forever.”
HABA Salon still has their location in Iowa City. That is NOT closing. The salon is still in the final stages of opening this second location, despite this setback.
If you have any information on the theft, please contact the North Liberty Police Department. They are investigating this burglary.
