2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships

PITTSBURGH(KWWL)–For the first time in history, the NCAA Wrestling tournament has seeded all 33 wrestlers in each weight bracket. The Iowa Hawkeyes have six of their nine qualifiers seeded ten or higher.

The Hawks unbeaten Alex Marinelli at 23 and 0 is the top seed at 165. Marineli finished sixth at the NCAA’s last year.

Defending NCAA champion Spencer Lee who enters this this year’s tournament with an 18-3 record is seeded third.

The UNI wrestling team has six NCAA qualifiers…With five of its wrestlers seeded 15 or better. The Panthers’ highest seeded wrestler was Josh Alber at 141 pounds.

And the Iowa State Cyclones are sending nine wrestlers to the NCAA tournament —with four seeded in the top ten led by Missouri transfer Willie Miklus seeded sixth at 197. NCAA championships begin next week in Pittsburgh.
