UPDATE: 2 charged, items recovered in A-1 Performance Power Sports burglary

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A-1 Performance Power Sports, located along Mount Vernon Rd. in Cedar Rapids is asking the community for help, after the business was burglarized for more than $200,000, according to the owners.

The owners took to Facebook showing the damage caused by the thieves. They’re asking the community to be vigilant for parts or motorcycle’s being sold, that may have been stolen from the business.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Dept. said 16 Harley Davidson motorcycles, two Schwinn mopeds, two ATV’s and an enclosed trailer were reported stolen.

According to the owners, apparel, tools, parts, and the safe was also stolen.

“All along this wall here were parts, jackets, leather coats, and Harley Davidson’s,” said A-1 Performance Power Sports Owner, Charles Hanson who found his 30-year-business ransacked, Wednesday.

“Had about 18-20 stolen, and approximately 150,000 dollars worth of motorcycles stolen,” said Hanson.

The list of stolen items keeps growing. From the office space, “They stole all of the titles of the vehicles out of those locked drawers.” said Hanson. To the parts department, the business left a mess.

“Sheer frustration, because it’s the winter months and we’re closed a lot due to our snow removal operations, our other company… the theft was just mind-boggling, as you can see by the walls, they just cleared the place out.”

The showroom once jam-packed with Harley’s and Choppers now shelves sit empty and the highest value bikes, stolen.

“The way I feel about is whenever you steal something from somebody, why don’t you get a job and your own income… this is 30 years of a business, 30 years of building this business and it’s all gone overnight,” said Hanson.

Now, the business is asking the community for help, posting to their Facebook a list of the inventory that was taken. Hoping whoever took them will try to sell them.

The business has put together a list of their inventory, to help recover some of the stolen items.

Here’s the original Facebook live done by the owners, asking the community for help.
