WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa announced their new executive director Friday. Yolanda R. Williams comes to Waterloo from Omaha, Nebraska where she was a staff member with the Partnership 4 Kids mentoring organization.
As an elementary program director, Williams is familiar with the power of mentoring in a young person’s life. She has served on the Omaha Public Schools board of education, as the Region 3 director for Nebraska Association of School Boards, and as the district’s delegate to the NSBA’s Council of Urban Boards of Education, according to a news release.
“Yolanda Williams has dedicated her life to advocacy for youth and to bring insight for urban and cultural issues. Her powerful and positive messaging exudes a deep commitment to youth and community, and will make her a wonderful new leader in our Northeast Iowa service area,” said Jody Hartz, interim CEO with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Williams will begin her new role very soon, March 13.
