Former Cedar Falls teammates help Wartburg Women’s Basketball

WAVERLY(KWWL)–Four years ago Adrienne Boettger, Emma Gerdes and Ally Conrad were all playing in the 5A Girls basketball State Tournament in De Moines…

Now they are guiding the Wartburg Knights to their 4th Straight NCAA Tournament appearance….

Senior Adrienne Boettger is leading the team in scoring AND field goal percentage…. Junior Emma Gerdes leads the team in rebounds, steals and assists and sophomore Ally Conrad leads the Knights in made three pointers. And these three has mainly helped to lead the team in UNITY. Even if there’s a little Cedar Falls SWAG.

Adrienne Boettger/ Wartburg Senior Center
“We do do a couple of Tiger jokes I won’t lie but really as a team we have come together at Wartburg we know we are all here for a common goal–we have that chemistry but we are here for Wartburg and working together.”

Ally Conrad/ Wartburg Sophomore Guard “It is special having Adrienne and Emma on the team it really helps with the culture because we are great examples of culture so I think our team just follows it and culture gets so tight knit.”
Adrienne, Ally and Emma are also part of a brand new starting lineup for a team that made the Final 4 in 20-18.

Emma Gerdes says its being an Underdog has been fun…

Emma Gerdes/Wartburg Junior Forward”Just being able to kind of prove them wrong and show them that we are still good to be able to take a whole new team to the national tournament for a second year um for a third–fourth year I guess is really cool.”
