Center Point-Urbana Girls to 3A State Basketball finals

DES MOINES(KWWL)–Another game, another dominating victory for Center Point-Urbana.
And now, a chance to win a state championship.
Center Point-Urbana got another big game from freshman Ryley Goebel and rolled past Des
Moines Christian 55-26 to earn a berth in the Class 3A championship game opposite top-ranked
North Polk. They’ll meet for the title at 8 o’clock Friday night.
Goebel, who comes off the bench, made all five of her shots in scoring 12 points. She also
made eight steals, grabbed five rebounds and handed out three assists, all while playing just 17
minutes.
In two games at state, Goebel already has tied the 3A record with 14 steals. She also has 31
points while making 14 of her 16 shots.
Adriana Katcher had another strong game for the Stromin’ Pointers with 15 points, eight
rebounds and five assists, while Rylee Clark added nine.
Des Moines Christian averaged 58 points a game during the season but struggled to get shots
against Center Point-Urbana’s length and aggressive defense. The Lions went long stretches
without scoring, including a 7 1/2-minute drought in the second quarter, which ended with the
Pointers leading 24-7.
Center Point-Urbana finished with 18 steals while forcing 28 turnovers.
Kalli Lawson led Des Moines Christian with seven points and Miah Potratz scored six.
Center Point-Urbana, which beat West Marshall 67-41 in the quarterfinals, takes a 23-2 record
into its first championship game. Des Moines Christian had a school record 23-game winning
streak broken and finishes 23-3
