Funeral today for former Rep. John Dingell

(NBC) — Hundreds will gather today to say their final goodbyes to the longest-serving Congress member in U.S. history.

Former Michigan Representative John Dingell died last Thursday at the age of 92.

His death follows a battle with cancer.

The 26-term congressman played a part in passing the 1964 Civil Rights Act and, more recently, the Affordable Care Act.

A public funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Divine Child.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and Representative John Lewis are expected to give remarks.
