Grundy Center looking for businesses to enter competition

GRUNDY CENTER, Iowa (KWWL) – The Grundy Center Chamber of Commerce is trying to boost business downtown.

Grundy Center Chamber-Main Street is looking for interested entrepreneurs who could use an extra $20,000 to launch or grow their business ideas within the Grundy Center Main Street district.

It’s part of the “Open 4 Business” competition. Businesses located in a state-designated Main Street district compete for the chance to win $20,000 in grant funding to assist with development or expansion projects to benefit the surrounding community.

The grant funds are administered by the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Downtown Resource Center and Main Street Iowa program.

A local competition will be held in Grundy Center this spring to determine who will represent the town in the state competition in the summer.

The winner at the state level could win up to $20,000.

Grundy Center Chamber-Main Street will host and informational meeting Tuesday, January 8 at 5:30 p.m. at Landmark Bistro.

Organizers ask businesses or individuals to RSVP or ask questions by calling 641-751-4377.
