The mild weather today will turn colder tonight and into the weekend. Temperatures are above freezing this evening with the chance of rain. After midnight the temperatures drop below freezing and light rain/drizzle changes over to light snow/flurries. Some freezing drizzle could be mixed in with this as well.
Light snow and flurries will be scattered across eastern Iowa through early afternoon. Little to no snow accumulation is expected. Highs are expected to be in the morning (30s) and fall into the mid 20s by late afternoon. A gusty northwest wind will continue through the day.
The clouds clear and the wind diminishes Friday night as temperatures drop into the teens by Saturday morning.
The weekend is mostly sunny. Saturday is colder than Sunday, but Sunday the wind is breezy.
Monday/Tuesday: There is a chance for a few snow showers late Monday into Tuesday. Light snow accumulation is possible if any. The new year starts out COLD. Highs are only in the teens and wind chills in the single digits. Lows Tuesday night could drop below zero. It warms back to near 30 Thursday.
