50 minute pursuit ends in arrest

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) — A nearly hour-long car chase across multiple counties ended in an arrest of a Raymond man.

Anthony Amundson, 36, was arrested and charged with Eluding and cited for Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle, Speed Violation, Stop Sign Violation and other traffic offenses. He also had a warrant for his arrest in Black Hawk County.

Buchanan County deputies attempted to stop Amundson on Saturday, November 17 around 6:15 p.m. for a traffic violation north of Jesup. Amundson refused to pull over and ran from deputies.

The entire chase went through areas near Jesup, Elk Run Heights, Raymond, Gilbertville, La Porte City and Brandon.

Deputies said the chase reached 100 mph before Amundson was stopped with spike strips on Highway 20 in Black Hawk County and came to an end on Lafayette Road in Raymond.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office and Jesup Police.
