Daniel Winn anchors Today in Iowa.
He’s an Illinois native, and he’s spent his entire career right here in the Midwest. St. Louis has been his home for most of the last ten years. He got his start as an overnight radio news anchor in St. Louis at KTRS. Since then he’s worked in Topeka, Kansas at ABC affiliate, KTKA. He returned to the “Show-Me State” to anchor and report in Jefferson City at KRCG 13, and then to Columbia’s ABC 17 KMIZ. He traded evenings for a 2 a.m wake-up call at his next stop at Tulsa’s NBC affiliate KJRH ,Channel 2 where he co-anchored the morning and midday newscasts. After Tulsa, it was back to Missouri where Daniel reported for St. Louis’ KSDK, Channel 5 (NBC).
Daniel has covered three governors, three state capitols, and presidential visits by former President Obama. He reported live during the flooding in Mid-Missouri (Lake of the Ozarks) back in 2014. He was actually on the anchor desk in Mid- Missouri the evening a massive tornado hit Joplin, Missouri in 2011. Daniel has also field-anchored from Ferguson, Missouri during the riots that plagued the city following the shooting death of Michael Brown in 2014.
Daniel is a busy father of one. His daughter, Caroline, keeps him on his toes chasing after her, and her three Golden Retrievers. When the weather is nice, you’ll find them cycling on area trails. He is a big believer in living a healthy life, and that means he can be found at the gym just about everyday, too.
